Founded in 1995, Easyjet (U2), is a European low-cost carrier from United Kingdom. They operate an extensive short-haul network across Europe and North Africa, offering flights to 150+ destinations.
easyJet’s baggage policy is primarily determined by the specific fare type or seat selection chosen by the passenger, as well as any active memberships like easyJet Plus. While every traveler is entitled to a small under-seat bag, larger cabin bags and checked items are generally available only for an additional fee or as part of bundled fares.
Packing starts with understanding your bags:
- Checked baggage is the larger luggage checked into the cargo hold; for Easyjet, the maximum standard size is 158 cm / 62 in.
- Carry-on bags (also referred to as cabin bags) go into the cabin for essentials, subject to the 100ml liquid rule, with a max size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm.
- The Personal Item is the smallest (like a laptop bag or purse) and must fit under the seat in front of you.
For safety, remember all spare lithium batteries, power banks, and e-cigarettes must be in your carry-on, while sharp objects must always be placed in checked baggage.
| Class / Fare Type | Carry-on Allowance | Max Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 Personal Bag | N/A |
| Up Front / Extra Legroom Seat | 1 Personal Bag | N/A |
| Inclusive Plus / FLEXI | 1 Personal Bag + 1 Cabin Bag | 15 kg (33 lbs) combined |
| easyJet Plus Member | 1 Personal Bag + 1 Cabin Bag | 15 kg (33 lbs) combined |
The maximum size for a personal item is 45 x 36 x 20 cm (under-seat) and 56 x 45 x 25 cm for a carry-on bag (overhead).
Easyjet primarily operates on the Piece Concept for its checked luggage.
The Piece Concept limits the number of bags you can bring (e.g., 2 bags maximum, each up to 23kg), meaning you cannot consolidate one big bag into two small ones without paying extra. Conversely, the Weight Concept limits the total combined weight of all your bags (e.g., a total of 30 kg across any number of pieces).
| Class / Fare Type | Checked Bag Allowance | Max Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 0 | N/A |
| Inclusive Plus/FLEXI | 1 | 23 kg |
Checked bags are not included in standard fares and must be purchased.
| Luggage Type | Fees |
|---|---|
| Cabin Bag | From £5.99 |
| Hold Luggage (15kg) | From £14.99 |
| Hold Luggage (23kg) | From £19.99 |
Fees vary significantly based on the route, flight, and time of booking. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is strictly 32 kg. Passengers on the same booking may pool their total weight allowance. Do note that any non-purchased bags brought to the departure gate will incur a £48 charge per item.
Excess Weight Charges:
Always pre-book your baggage allowance online to avoid significantly higher airport charges.
