You can apply for a BPI credit card online, through BPI’s digital channels, or by submitting the right form at a branch, depending on the card or request. The best route depends on whether you’re applying for a new principal credit card, checking for an offer in your BPI app, or requesting a supplementary card.

This guide walks through the main ways to apply for a BPI credit card, what to prepare before applying, and what to check before choosing a card.

We'll also introduce the Wise card, a handy travel companion to make seamless card payments when you're overseas.

Can you apply for a BPI credit card online?

Yes. BPI lets customers start a credit card application online through its official application page. Some BPI credit card requests may also need a form or branch submission, depending on the card or request type.¹

For your security, start your application through BPI’s official website or app, rather than links from unfamiliar emails, ads or messages. Before applying, compare the card’s fees, benefits, eligibility requirements and foreign currency charges so you know what to expect.

BPI credit card requirements: what to prepare before applying

Before you apply, prepare the basic information and documents you may need. BPI says applicants need one photo- bearing, unexpired ID, plus proof of income or a copy of a credit card statement from another bank.²

You may also need:

  • Your full name, date of birth and contact details
  • Your current home and billing address
  • Employment or business information
  • Income details
  • A valid mobile number and email address
  • Supporting documents requested by BPI

Requirements can vary depending on the card and your applicant profile, so check the specific BPI card page before submitting your application.

How to apply for a BPI credit card

There are a few ways to apply for a BPI credit card. You can start online, check whether there are card options in BPI’s digital channels, or visit a branch if you prefer in- person support.

Online BPI credit card application

Here’s a simple step- by- step guide to applying online:

  1. Go to BPI’s official credit card application page.
  2. Review the available BPI credit cards.
  3. Choose the card you want to apply for.
  4. Fill in your personal details.
  5. Add your employment, income and contact information.
  6. Upload or submit documents if BPI asks for them.
  7. Review your application details carefully.
  8. Submit your application.
  9. Wait for BPI to contact you about your application status or next steps.

BPI’s online application page lets users find a BPI credit card and apply online.¹ If you’re unsure which card to choose, compare annual fees, rewards, cashback, miles, foreign currency fees and eligibility requirements before applying.

In- app BPI credit card application

If you already use BPI’s digital banking channels, you can check the BPI app or online banking to see whether a credit card application, offer or card- related option is available to you.

BPI has shared digital ways to apply for a BPI credit card from home.³ If you don’t see a credit card application option in the app, use BPI’s official online application page or visit a BPI branch instead.

Avoid entering your personal or financial details into unofficial forms, especially if the link came from a message or email you weren’t expecting.

Applying for a BPI credit card at a branch

You can also apply at a BPI branch. This may be useful if you prefer in- person support, need help with the form, or want to submit supporting documents directly.

To apply at a branch:

  1. Visit your nearest BPI branch.
  2. Ask for the correct credit card application form.
  3. Fill out the form completely.
  4. Submit your valid ID and supporting documents.
  5. Ask how BPI will update you about your application.
  6. Wait for BPI’s decision or follow- up request.

BPI also has a Credit Card Forms page where users can access credit card- related forms, including the Credit Card Application Form.⁴

How to apply for a supplementary credit card with BPI

A supplementary credit card is linked to a principal cardholder’s account. It can be useful for family members or trusted dependants, but the principal cardholder should understand how the card works before applying.

Who can request a BPI supplementary card?

A BPI supplementary card request is generally made by the principal cardholder. BPI requires valid IDs for both the principal cardholder and supplementary cardholder when applying for a supplementary card.⁵

Before applying, check the fees, credit limit arrangement and responsibilities that come with a supplementary card.

BPI supplementary card application steps

BPI lists 2 main ways to apply for a supplementary card: through the BPI Contact Center or at a BPI branch.⁵

To apply through a BPI branch:

  1. Go to your nearest BPI branch.
  2. Completely fill out the application form.
  3. Submit the form with 2 valid IDs - one for the principal cardholder and one for the supplementary cardholder.
  4. Wait for BPI’s notification once the card is for delivery.

To apply through the BPI Contact Center:

  1. Call the 24-hour BPI Contact Center.
  2. Fill out and print the application form.
  3. Take a photo of the application form and the 2 valid IDs.
  4. Send the complete requirements to the email address provided by the BPI Contact Center.
  5. Wait for BPI’s notification once the card is for delivery.

How long does a BPI credit card application take?

BPI credit card application timelines can vary. Your processing time may depend on the card you applied for, whether your documents are complete, whether BPI needs more information, and where your card will be delivered.

If you’re applying through a specific promotion or card offer, check the terms on BPI’s official page. If you need an update, use BPI’s official contact channels rather than replying to unfamiliar messages.

What to check before choosing a BPI credit card

Before applying, compare the card details carefully. A card that works well for everyday local spending may not be the best fit for travel, online shopping or overseas purchases.

Check:

  • Annual fee
  • Interest rate
  • Late payment charges
  • Rewards, cashback or miles
  • Foreign currency transaction fees
  • Cash advance fees
  • Supplementary card fees
  • Travel benefits
  • Online shopping features
  • Minimum income or eligibility requirements
  • Whether the card fits your usual spending

Some BPI cards highlight rewards, rebates or exclusive privileges, while others may be designed for specific types of spending.⁶ Read the card’s rates, fees and terms before you apply.

Save on overseas card spending with the Wise card

A BPI credit card can work well for local spending, rewards and everyday purchases. But if you travel abroad, shop from international stores or pay in foreign currencies often, it’s worth checking the exchange rate and foreign transaction fees attached to your card.

The Wise card lets you spend in 40+ currencies at the mid-market rate including USD, SGD, GBP, and JPY so you know you'll be getting a great deal in over 150+ countries. Simply create a free Wise account, order a card and top-up PHP to get started.

A physical Wise card can be ordered for a low fee of 369.60 PHP. Having a physical Wise card allows you to make chip and pin payments, as well as 2 free ATM withdrawals to the value of 12,000 PHP each month, before low fees start.

In supported countries, Wise also lets you pay with QR codes, giving you another easy way to pay when cards or cash aren't your first choice. That means you can use Wise for card payments, cash withdrawals, and QR payments, all from the same account.

While abroad, you can choose to spend directly in PHP and let auto-conversion do the trick, or convert to your desired currency with your Wise account. Either way, you’ll get the exchange rate you see on Google, with low, transparent fees from 0.57%.
