How to set Bank Islam online transfer limits

The Bank Islam online and mobile transfer limits are set to the default level, but can be altered if you would like to. You may want to set a higher per-transfer limit for convenience, for example - or a lower one to maintain security on your account.

Can I change the Bank Islam transfer limit

You can change some Bank Islam transfer limits from the default that has been set for you. You’ll be able to change your Bank Islam transfer limit in a branch, by calling the bank’s customer contact center, through the BIMB mobile app or online banking service, or at an ATM⁵.

Step-by-step guide to change your Bank Islam transfer limit

Here’s how to change the limit for Bank Islam online and mobile payments:

  1. Log into your Bank Islam Mobile App
  2. Tap Manage, and then Transactions
  3. Tap Transaction Limits and select type of transaction you want to adjust
  4. Move slider to the limit you want to use
  5. Tap Save - you may be prompted to take a security step to complete the process

There’s a 12 hour cooling off period on the transaction limit change. This means that your limit will only actually change 12 hours after you adjust it in the app or online.

Increasing the transfer limit

If you’re thinking about changing your per transaction transfer limit with Bank Islam you’ll need to consider the balance of security and convenience, based on your transfer requirements.

Having a lower per transaction limit offers added protection against fraud - you’ll know that a criminal couldn’t initiate a large transfer from your account, which offers peace of mind. However, if you need to send relatively large payments frequently, having a higher limit may be more convenient for you.

Consider the pros and cons for your specific needs before you decide to increase your Bank Islam transfer limit.

What happens if a customer exceeds the Bank Islam maximum limit

If you’re making a digital transfer and hit or exceed the Bank Islam limit, you’ll get a notification saying the customer's maximum limit is exceeded. Bank Islam will then decline the transaction.

If you hit a Bank Islam limit which means you can’t complete a transaction, you can call into a branch to discuss your best options - or you can call the customer contact center on +603-26 900 900 instead⁶.
