BPI is one of the largest banks in the Philippines, offering a range of financial services including savings accounts, loans and credit cards¹. One of its more accessible options is the BPI Rewards Credit Card, which lets cardholders earn points on everyday spending.

In this review, we’ll cover the BPI Rewards card’s features, fees, eligibility requirements and rewards programme, to help you decide whether it suits your spending habits and financial needs. We'll also introduce the Wise card, a handy travel companion to make seamless card payments when you're overseas.

What is the BPI Rewards card?

The BPI Rewards Credit Card is a points-based credit card that allows you to earn BPI Rewards Points when you spend. These points can be redeemed for a range of options, including shopping and dining credits, airline miles and selected investment products.

The card is designed for those looking for a flexible, everyday credit card, with multiple repayment options and a broad rewards catalogue. In addition to points-based rewards, cardholders may also gain access to merchant discounts and partner offers simply by using the card, without needing to redeem points.

BPI Rewards card requirements

To apply for a BPI Rewards Credit Card, you’ll need to meet the following criteria¹:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a minimum monthly income of 15,000 PHP
  • Have an active mobile number and email address

Depending on your employment status or length of employment, additional requirements may apply. As part of the application, you’ll also need to submit supporting documents, such as at least one valid photo ID and proof of income.

You can apply for the BPI Rewards Credit Card in person at a BPI branch, or online through the BPI website or the Lazada app.

If you apply through the BPI website, you’ll first complete a short questionnaire to help identify which BPI credit card best suits your profile². BPI currently offers multiple credit card options, each with different features and requirements.

When applying via Lazada, a 1 PHP payment is required to initiate the process. You’ll then receive instructions by email to complete your application. Once submitted, approval can take up to 15 banking days.

BPI Rewards card benefits

The BPI Rewards Credit Card includes several features designed to offer flexibility in how you spend and repay.

Cardholders can convert eligible purchases into installment plans of up to 36 months⁵, which may help spread the cost of larger expenses. You can also withdraw up to 30% of your credit limit as a cash advance, though interest and fees apply.

BPI cardholders also gain access to merchant discounts and promotions through the Oh My Deals! (OMD!) app⁶. The app allows you to browse offers by card type, location or category, making it easier to find deals relevant to you.

For travellers, the BPI Rewards Credit Card includes travel insurance coverage of up to 2 million PHP, provided the travel fare is charged to the card. When used overseas, a 1.85% foreign transaction service fee applies. If you plan to use your card abroad, it’s worth understanding how these fees work - see our guide on using a BPI card abroad for details. Frequent travellers may also want to compare this with specialist travel cards like Wise, which offer lower foreign exchange fees.

Earning BPI Rewards Points

With a BPI Rewards Credit Card, you earn 1 BPI Rewards Point for every 35 PHP spent. Points can be earned across a range of transactions⁷, including:

  • Card purchases
  • Payments made using the VYBE wallet
  • Bill payments, QR payments, money transfers and donations via the BPI app
  • E-wallet top-ups, such as ShopeePay or Lazada
  • Selected savings and account activity with BPI

You can track your points balance and activity through the VYBE by BPI app, which is also used to redeem rewards.

BPI Rewards Points conversion and redemption

You can redeem your BPI Rewards Points through the VYBE by BPI app. Once you’ve downloaded the app and logged in, you can choose how you want to cash out. Your redemption options are broadly classed into several categories⁸:

  • Shopping credits, with a variety of retailers
  • Dining credits, with cafes and restaurants
  • Investment, into existing mutual and investment trust funds
  • Airmiles, with several airlines including Mabuhay Miles and Krisflyer miles
  • Card membership fee reduction

You can see a full list of BPI rewards on the BPI website, or through the VYBE app. You can also see the deals and offers open to you through your card using the OMD! App - some of which may not require any points to redeem.
