If you’re a Revolut user or are considering signing up, there may be times where you want to move money from Revolut to a bank account. The question is, what does this involve?
In this guide, we’ll explain how to transfer money from Revolut to a bank account, and what the costs and transfer times look like. We’ll also introduce you to the Wise Account, which also allows you to make transfers and gives you access to local account details in 8+ currencies.
Yes. With Revolut, you can send money directly to bank accounts within Ireland and abroad.¹ You can send money in the same currency (e.g. a EUR to EUR transfer) or in different currencies with a Revolut currency conversion.

These are the steps to follow to successfully send money from Revolut to a bank account.¹
Once you’ve input all of the required information you’ll be given a chance to review the transfer, before confirming and sending the money.
The fees for sending money with Revolut are variable, being determined based on factors like¹:
- The currencies involved
- Where the money is being sent
- What time and day the transfer is sent
- Which Revolut plan your account is on
You’ll be shown what the cost is for your transfer before you hit the button to confirm, but here’s a general idea.
| Region | Fee¹ |
|---|---|
| EUR transfers within SEPA region | No fee |
| GBP transfers within UK | No fee |
| Transfers outside UK and SEPA region | Variable fee |
Once the money is sent from Revolut, it goes to the bank account in whatever currency you chose.
If that bank account supports the currency you sent, the money is usually deposited in that currency.
If it doesn’t, for example you sent EUR to a USD account, then the money could either be rejected, or automatically converted to the account currency.
If you’re looking for something else, there is the Wise Account. It allows Irish users to send and receive money between their Wise Account and bank accounts.
While Revolut provides local account details for EUR and GBP ³, Wise has taken it a step further, giving access to local account details in 8+ currencies, including EUR, GBP, USD and AUD.
With Revolut, you’ll see an estimated time of arrival for the transfer before confirming. Usually you can expect:
| Transfer type | General timeframe² |
|---|---|
| EUR Transfers (SEPA) | Few minutes to up to 2 business days |
| International transfers (SWIFT) | Up to 2 business days |
Once the money is sent, you can then track the status by going to your transactions list, and pressing on the transaction you want to check on.
Once the money arrives at the recipient's bank, it can take time for the bank to credit the funds to the recipient's account.

If you need to move money between currencies often, or receive payments from abroad, the Wise Account can be a useful alternative.
As we mentioned, with Wise, you’ll get local account details for 8+ currencies, including GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, and CAD. This makes it easy to get paid in different currencies without having to go through an international transfer.
As an added bonus, Wise always uses the mid-market exchange rate (the one you usually see on Google) for currency exchanges, so you won’t pay hidden markups when converting your money.
