Revolut lets its US customers manage everything directly through their smartphones, meaning you won’t have to wait in line or mail physical paperwork to close your profile.²
However, because Revolut operates as a regulated financial platform, there are a few strict conditions you must meet before the system will let you close your account.²

Revolut has made closing your account simple by building the process right into the app.² Before you can tap the final button, your profile must meet a few requirements set by the platform:¹
Once your profile meets all these guidelines, you can close your account using the mobile app¹:
If you lose your phone, forget your passcode, or get locked out of your account, you can still close your profile without logging into the app.
To close your account without your login details, you’ll need to contact Revolut's customer support team via email at **support@revolut.com.**²
To keep your money safe, the support team won’t close the account right away. Instead, they’ll reply with instructions to verify your identity. You’ll need to provide specific information – such as your full legal name, registered home address, and confirmation of your past transactions – to prove you own the account.
Note that the manual email process takes longer to finish than the instant in-app method.²
Closing a Revolut account can’t be undone, so completing a quick checklist ensures you won’t lose important financial records. You can also avoid unexpected account fees.
Keep these items in mind before you close your account²:
Download your financial statements: Once your account is closed, your login details will no longer work, and you’ll lose direct access to your past transactions. You should log in and download up to 7 years of account statements and tax documents directly to your device before closing your account. You might need these records later for personal budgeting or tax reporting
Downgrade your paid plan: If you subscribe to a paid tier (like Plus, Premium, or Metal), you must manually downgrade to the free Standard plan before you can close your account.¹ Check the Revolut app for any plan terms. Early cancellation fees may apply depending on how long you’ve had the plan
Clear out tiny balances: Revolut requires a zero balance to close your account. If you have a leftover balance that’s too small to transfer out, it can block the deletion process. Make sure to add the exact amount needed to meet the minimum transfer limit, send the remaining pocket change to a friend on Revolut, or donate your remaining cents to charity using the in-app tool³
Pay off negative balances: If your account shows a negative balance due to delayed transactions or subscription fees, you must add enough funds to bring the account back to zero before Revolut will let you delete it³
In most cases, you can’t reactivate or reopen a Revolut account once it has been closed. If you change your mind later and want to use their services again, you can sign up for a brand-new account from scratch.³
You can use the same personal phone number and email address to create a new profile if your old account was closed in good standing.³
Even though you lose access to the app immediately, Revolut can’t instantly erase all your information from its systems. Revolut is a regulated financial institution, so it’s required by law to store your personal data and transaction history.
Choosing to delete a Revolute account is a digital task you can complete in minutes through your profile menu, as long as your balance sits at zero. If you’re completely locked out of your device, you can complete the same request securely by emailing your verification details to support@revolut.com.
Just remember to download your 7 years of transaction histories, clear any pending transfers, and downgrade your plan to Standard to avoid any unexpected fees before you say goodbye.
