✈️ Key Takeaways
  • If you cancel your JetBlue flight within 24 hours of purchase, at least 7 days before departure, you’ll receive a full refund with no cancellation fee.¹
  • Most JetBlue tickets are cancellable for a travel credit with no fee.¹
  • Blue Basic tickets have a 100 USD cancellation fee for flights to North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.¹

How to cancel a JetBlue flight - is it possible?

You can cancel most JetBlue flights. Here are the JetBlue cancel flight policies and how they work:

7 days before departure, 24 hours within booking

If your ticket was booked in the last 24 hours, and the flight is at least 7 days away, then you can cancel for free for a full refund, no matter what kind of ticket you have.¹

After these time windows expire, your cancellation process will depend on the kind of ticket you booked, where it’s going, and whether you cancel online or over the phone.

Blue Basic tickets

Blue Basic tickets have a 100 USD cancellation fee for destinations in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. All other destinations have a cancellation fee of 200 USD

Other JetBlue Fares

The rest of JetBlue’s reservation tiers, from Blue, to Blue Extra, and so on, do not charge cancellation fees. You’ll get a travel voucher that’s good for 12 months.¹

Refundable vs nonrefundable fares

If you purchased a refundable ticket, then you can cancel anytime with no fee up to the point of departure.² Most tickets are nonrefundable at the point of purchase unless you choose to book a refundable ticket. Refundable tickets put the full amount of the purchase back on your original form of payment.

How to cancel your JetBlue flight

To cancel your flight with JetBlue:

  1. Visit the Manage Trips page
  2. Enter your last name and confirmation number
  3. Follow the instructions to cancel your trip

There’s no service fee to cancel your booking online, though there may be a cancellation fee depending on your reservation.

You can also chat with JetBlue or call 1-800-JETBLUE. Be careful: these options come with a fee of 25 USD per person per reservation, in addition to any applicable fees.¹

Can I cancel my JetBlue flight and get a refund?

Usually you can. If your JetBlue flight leaves at least 7 days from the time that you want to cancel, and you purchased the ticket within 24 hours, you can cancel the flight for a full refund.

Otherwise, you can cancel and receive a travel credit from JetBlue that’s valid for 12 months. If you purchased a Blue Basic ticket, you’ll have to pay a cancellation fee of at least 100 USD.

What’s the JetBlue flight cancellation and refund policy?

If JetBlue cancels your flight or if you booked with JetBlue and need to cancel, here’s what to expect.

Does JetBlue have a 24 hour cancellation policy?

Within 24 hours of booking your reservation, you can cancel the purchase of your flight ticket for a full refund. That’s as long as your flight departure is at least 7 days away.

JetBlue compensation for delays, cancellations, or schedule changes

Let’s say JetBlue cancels your flight or you experience a significant delay. Here’s what you can expect to happen.

For cancelled flights JetBlue will book you on the next available flight to your destination at no additional charge. You are also entitled to a full refund instead if that’s what you prefer.³

The airline tries to cancel flights at least 4 hours before departure, but if they do cancel within that time frame, you’ll receive compensation in the form of a 50 USD travel credit. If it’s cancelled after the scheduled departure, that compensation is 100 USD

How to change your JetBlue flight

Go to the Manage Trips page to change your JetBlue reservation. Whether you have to pay additional fare differences or fees (or if you can change your flight at all) will depend on how soon your flight departs and the kind of ticket you booked.

If you use the online chat call 1-800-JETBLUE to change your reservation, you’ll pay a 25 USD fee per person to make changes in addition to other fees.

It’s easy to cancel a JetBlue flight, especially if you just booked, and your flight is at least a week away. If you’re worried about needing to cancel, consider a higher tier booking than Blue Basic—which carries a hefty cancellation fee—and/or a refundable fare.

Make sure to make changes online—there’s a 25 USD service fee to do so over the phone or with the company’s chat service.
