Can I cancel my Spirit flight within 24 hours?

Within 24 hours of your purchase, you can cancel Spirit flights for no charge and get a full refund on the form of payment used to buy your tickets.

This applies only if your flight is at least 7 days away. Otherwise, you’ll be refunded in the form of a travel voucher.¹

After 24 hours of purchase, you can still cancel your flight. But the type of ticket you purchased will determine whether you have to pay a cancellation fee.

Do I get my money back if I cancel my Spirit flight?

You’ll get your money back if you cancel a Spirit flight within 24 hours of purchase as long as the flight is at least 7 days away.

If your cancellation is after 24 hours of purchase but you purchased a Premium Economy or Spirit First ticket, you can still cancel with no cancellation fees. However, you’ll get your money back as a travel voucher, not a refund.

For Value bookings, the cancellation fee is 99 USD.⁴

What’s the Spirit flight cancellation and refund policy?

If your Spirit flight is cancelled by Spirit Airlines, they’ll put you on the next available Spirit flight(s) to your destination. You won’t be charged for these new flights, and you’ll also have the option to request a refund or travel credit.⁵

If you have to stay overnight away from home to catch the flight you’re re-booked on, Spirit will reimburse your costs of lodging and transportation, or provide them to you directly.⁵

Spirit compensation for delays, cancelations, or schedule changes

Weather delays and other events that are outside of Spirit’s control do not come with compensation. For delays and changes that are Spirit’s responsibility, however, the airline will provide alternate flights and overnight lodging as detailed above.⁵

For delays lasting more than three hours, Spirit may provide a meal voucher for the time you spend waiting.⁵

How to change your Spirit flight

To change your flight:

Go to “My Trips” on the website or in the Spirit app

Locate the reservation you want to change

Follow the instructions to make the change¹

You can also text or send a WhatsApp message with the words “Hello” to 855-728-3555 or use their live chat online.³

If you’re in the airport, a Spirit customer service desk can make the changes for you. You’ll need the confirmation number of your reservation as well as the name on the reservation.
