MONETA international payments: How much do they cost?

🔍 This quick example will show you that the most important factor is the exchange rate.

If you send 1,200 EUR to Italy with MONETA, you'll spend 952 CZK more than with Wise. And that's solely due to the exchange rate – the SEPA payment itself is free with MONETA.

MONETA international payments – fees

The cost of an international transfer depends on where you're sending money and in what currency.

MONETA SEPA payments

As with most other banks, SEPA payments are free with MONETA.¹ The European Union mandates that payments in EUR within the European Economic Area should not cost more than domestic transfers.

MONETA international payments

If you’re sending money outside the EEA or in a currency other than EUR, you'll pay 1% of the amount sent. Regardless of the sum, the minimum fee is 220 CZK. The maximum fee is 1,500 CZK.¹

Watch out for MONETA's exchange rates

The exchange rate used by MONETA Money Bank affects international payments more than the transfer fees. Each bank sets its own rates, and to profit from the exchange, many add a margin to the market rate. On the Czech market, MONETA is one of the banks with a higher exchange rate margin – so always make sure to check how much you'll ultimately pay before making a transfer.

How long does a MONETA international payment take?

A SEPA payment sent from MONETA Money Bank should arrive in the recipient's account by the next business day.² Other transfers should arrive by the fourth business day at the latest.³

Guide to MONETA international payments

How do you send money abroad with MONETA? Essentially the same way you'd send a regular payment – with the difference that you'll usually enter the account number in the international IBAN format. Along with the exact name of the recipient's account, this is all you need for a SEPA payment. For other international payments, you'll also need the BIC/SWIFT code and other details, depending on the destination country.⁴

How to send a payment:

  1. Log in to your Internet Bank or Smart Bank.
  2. Select the "Pay" option and then "International Payment."
  3. Fill in the account name and account number in IBAN format. The system will recognize whether it's a SEPA or an international payment based on this.
  4. Fill in the required fields and check them carefully.
  5. Authorize the transaction as you normally would.
  6. Payment sent.⁵

You can also submit an international payment order directly at a branch. However, be prepared for an extra 150 CZK fee for a SEPA payment.¹

MONETA incoming payments from abroad

Are you expecting to receive money from abroad? Good news – MONETA doesn't need you to do anything on your end. Simply provide the sender with the correct details, mainly:

  • Your international account number (IBAN).
  • Your bank's SWIFT code. For MONETA Bank, it’s AGBACZPP.⁵

Where to find your IBAN?

With MONETA, you can see your IBAN in the online banking system:

  • In Internet Bank, click on the gear icon; your account details, including your IBAN, will appear.
  • In Smart Bank, click on your account, then on the "More" icon, and then on "Details." Your IBAN will show up there.

MONETA also lists your IBAN on your regular bank statement. If you still can't find your IBAN, visit a branch or contact MONETA customer service.⁶
