These days, people are sending money abroad more and more frequently, whether that’s to pay for a hotel abroad or send their kids pocket money for their Erasmus exchange year. Is it your turn? Find out how much an international payment costs with MONETA bank, how long it takes, and how to send it.
We're also introducing the Wise account which allows you to have local account details in 9+ currencies, including EUR, USD, and GBP — all in one place. You can convert your money at the mid-market rate, and we'll show you the fees upfront.
🔍 This quick example will show you that the most important factor is the exchange rate.
If you send 1,200 EUR to Italy with MONETA, you'll spend 952 CZK more than with Wise. And that's solely due to the exchange rate – the SEPA payment itself is free with MONETA.
| Provider | You'll pay¹ | Exchange rate 1 EUR |
|---|---|---|
| MONETA Money Bank | 30,163 CZK | 25.136 CZK² |
| Wise | 29,211 CZK | 24.230 CZK |

The cost of an international transfer depends on where you're sending money and in what currency.
As with most other banks, SEPA payments are free with MONETA.¹ The European Union mandates that payments in EUR within the European Economic Area should not cost more than domestic transfers.
If you’re sending money outside the EEA or in a currency other than EUR, you'll pay 1% of the amount sent. Regardless of the sum, the minimum fee is 220 CZK. The maximum fee is 1,500 CZK.¹
The exchange rate used by MONETA Money Bank affects international payments more than the transfer fees. Each bank sets its own rates, and to profit from the exchange, many add a margin to the market rate. On the Czech market, MONETA is one of the banks with a higher exchange rate margin – so always make sure to check how much you'll ultimately pay before making a transfer.
