Although the Tangerine World Mastercard is aimed at frequent travellers, you'll face additional fees for spending abroad. It's important to look out for these costs before using your credit card outside Canada.
When you spend money in a foreign currency, Tangerine will bill you in Canadian dollars. The provider will convert your transaction into Canadian dollars at the exchange rate provided by Mastercard.
You may not know how much this rate will cost until you see the transaction amount posted to your account, and it's likely to fluctuate with market changes.
Some transactions may be converted into another currency, such as US dollars, before being converted to Canadian dollars. Every time your money is converted, you'll pay Mastercard's exchange rate for the transaction.
