Interac limits how much you can send via your Tangerine account on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to change these limits.
Let’s take a closer look at Interac e‑Transfer limits1 with Tangerine:
| Frequency/Type of transfer | Sending | Receiving |
|---|---|---|
| Daily | 3000 CAD | 10,000 CAD |

Tangerine has a lot of useful features, but it may not be the right choice for everyone. You’ll need to think about account capabilities, fees and how much you can transfer.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the limitations and drawbacks of Tangerine for individuals and businesses in Canada.
Tangerine typically limits how much you can send via Interac e-Transfer. These maximum limits are set by Interac, and they can’t be changed.
You can send up to 3000 CAD per day or up to 10,000 CAD per week. You can receive up to 10,000 CAD each day or up to 70,000 CAD per week.¹
You can only withdraw up to 1200 CAD in cash per day with Tangerine. However, you may be able to change your ABM limits via telephone.²
You can’t send SWIFT wire transfers via your Tangerine account. This may limit your global spending options, and it means Tangerine is best suited for domestic transactions within Canada.³
This is a big drawback for businesses, particularly if you regularly conduct business overseas. You won’t be able to invoice international clients, manage your remote global team or pay for supplies abroad.
However, you may be able to use your Tangerine Client Card to withdraw cash overseas. You can get fee-free access to Scotiabank® Global ATM Alliance machines in over 40 countries.⁴
Both Tangerine and Wise are popular digital financial providers for Canadian customers. You can send, spend or receive your money online.
However, you can’t use Tangerine for international SWIFT transfers, and some transaction fees apply. Let’s take a closer look at Tangerine vs Wise for features, fees and limits.
