If you live in Oklahoma, Arizona, or New Mexico, your Ria transfer limit per day is only 999.99 USD. This is because of state regulations.²

💡 You'll need to verify your identity to become eligible for the maximum amount of 14,999.99 USD every 30 days. If you're not verified, your sending limits will be lower, but Ria doesn't specify what they are.

There may be additional restrictions from your recipient's bank or receiving method that limit the amount you can send. Some agent and partner locations may have other limits in place, too.

If you have specific questions about limits to particular countries — like the Ria money transfer limit to India — check the country pages for your destination.

The easiest approach is often to start your transfer and see if Ria lets you proceed or if there's a limit. Regardless, you won't be able to send more than 14,999.99 USD per 30 days with Ria.

What is Ria’s monthly transfer limit?

For verified accounts, Ria's monthly transfer limit is 14,999.99 USD every 30 days. This applies to most payment methods, including bank transfers, debit cards, and credit cards.²

Cash-funded transfers have a much lower limit of 495 USD per transfer, which can reduce how much you can send monthly if you prefer paying with cash.²

What is Ria’s daily transfer limit?

Ria doesn't set a specific daily transfer limit for most users. Instead, they focus on the 30-day rolling limit of 14,999.99 USD

Oklahoma, Arizona, and New Mexico have additional restrictions that lower your transfer limits to 999.99 USD per day. Plus, cash transfers are limited to 495 USD per transaction.²

Ria international transfer limits

When you're using Ria to make an international transfer, you follow the same rules: 14,999.99 USD every 30 days for verified accounts, and 495 USD per transfer for cash payments. However, the country you're sending to can have additional restrictions.²

It's important to look up your specific destination country because sometimes there are additional limits set by local banks, government regulations, or Ria's partner locations.

For example, Ria’s transfer limit to the Philippines has additional restrictions depending on the receiving partner:³

  • M Lhuillier: 250,000 PHP per transfer
  • Cebuana Lhuillier: 200,000 PHP per transfer
  • BDO Palawan/Tambunting/USSC: 200,000 PHP per transfer

So, even if you're within Ria's transfer limits, make sure to check country-specific limits, too.

How can you check your Ria transfer limits?

You should be able to see your transfer limits in the Ria app. For verified accounts, you can assume that the standard limit of 14,999.99 USD every 30 days applies.

The system will prevent you from sending more than your limit, so you'll know if you're trying to exceed it. If you hit a limit, the app or website will show you an error message explaining the restriction.

Can you increase your transfer limits at Ria?

You can't increase your send limit for online money transfers through the app or website.

If you need to send more than the standard limits, you'll need to visit a physical Ria store. At the store, you'll be asked to provide additional information, including an ID, social security number, and other paperwork to process larger transfers.

You may or may not be able to send more. It's up to the Ria store.

With Wise, you can send up to 1,000,000 USD per wire transaction to 140+ countries, with the mid-market exchange rate and low, transparent fees.

What are Ria's transfer fees and charges?

Ria’s money transfer fees aren't fixed. They change depending on your payment method, payout method, send country, transfer destination, and transfer amount, among other factors.⁴

For example, faster payment methods typically cost more than slower ones.

In addition to the transfer fee, which can already be quite high, Ria also charges an exchange rate markup. This means they offer you a less favorable exchange rate than the mid-market rate you see on Google, and they pocket the difference.

This markup can make you lose quite a lot of money, especially on a larger transfer, because you'll be losing money on every USD you send. Overall, Ria can be a pretty expensive way to send money, just like a wire transfer at your bank.

Things to keep in mind when transferring high amounts

If you need to transfer a large amount, Ria likely isn't the best option for that.

Its main purpose is to send smaller amounts to friends and family, especially if they live abroad. But even for those smaller transfers, it can be costly because of the fees and exchange rate markups.

Keep these factors in mind:

  • Low transfer limits: The 14,999.99 USD monthly limit may not meet your needs for large transfers²
  • State restrictions: Some states have daily limits as low as 999.99 USD, which makes large transfers impractical²
  • Recipient limits: Partner locations and banks may have their own separate receiving limits
  • Cash transfer restrictions: If you prefer cash, you're limited to just 495 USD per transfer²
  • No limit increases: You can't raise your transfer limits online, but you may be able to if you visit a Ria store

Overall, Ria is one way to send money internationally, but it comes with pretty tight limits and pretty high fees. You'll likely find a better deal elsewhere.

With Wise, you can send secure and trackable large amount transfers to 140+ countries worldwide with transparent fees and the fair mid-market exchange rate.

Have a look at the main benefits for using Wise to send large transfers:
