What is Remitly’s daily limit to India?

Remitly’s transfer limit to India from the US is 100,000 USD, but this applies to each individual transfer. You may be able to send a larger amount of money per day. Speak to Remitly for more information about your daily transfer limits.

Some banks in India may also limit how much you can receive from the US. The provider should make you aware of your maximum limits for money transfers to India via the app.¹

Remitly transfer limits overview

Remitly’s transfer limits will depend on where and how you want to send money abroad. For example, US customers can typically send up to 100,000 USD per transfer, whereas UK customers can send up to 75,000 GBP.¹

Remitly may require you to provide some additional verification information for large transactions, such as:

  • your name, date of birth, and address
  • your passport or a similar form of government ID
  • your social security number or ITIN number
  • supporting documents like utility bills
  • bank statements or pay stubs

You may also need to provide the purpose of your transfer, your source of income, or your current occupation.¹

Can I increase my Remitly transfer limits?

It may not be possible to increase your transfer limits at Remitly. You’ll need to contact the provider for more information.

Remitly’s transfer limits recently increased for all customers, so you can now send up to 100,000 USD per transaction from a US Remitly account.

You may need to provide some information about your large transfer to verify your identity and safeguard your funds.¹

What are Remitly’s transfer fees and charges?

Remitly’s transfer fees can be a little confusing — and your costs will depend on where and how you want to send your money overseas.

Let’s take a closer look at how much you’ll pay for Remitly transfers to India from the USA.

Transfer fees

Remitly claims to offer free transfers from the US to India, but this is misleading, as it only applies to your first transfer.

For any future transfers, you’ll pay 3.99 USD per transfer below 1,000 USD. You won’t pay any transfer fees for payments to India over 1,000 USD.³

Exchange rates

Remitly offers a promotional exchange rate for transfers to India. However, this is also misleading. Again, it only refers to your first Remitly transfer from USD to Indian rupees (INR).

You can only send up to 10,000 USD at the favorable rate. For future transfers or payments over 10,000 USD, you’ll pay Remitly’s regular exchange rate to convert your money. This costs more than the first-time promotional rate.³

For example, if you want to send 100,000 USD to India, you’ll pay 8,857,000 INR at Remitly’s full regular exchange rate (as of October 14, 2025).³

This compares to 8,858,900 INR at Remitly’s first-time promotional exchange rate (applied to the first 10,000 USD of your transaction).³ That’s quite a difference!

Remitly’s regular exchange rate also depends on whether you choose the provider’s express or economy transfer service.

Express transfers are often more expensive, but they may reach your recipient at a faster rate. Economy transactions have lower fees, but they’ll likely take a little longer to arrive.⁴

Is it safe to transfer a large amount with Remitly?

Remitly is typically safe for large or small transactions. The provider uses security features like account verification, password security, and encryption.

You can also access phishing or scam support at Remitly, with security information available online for new and returning customers.⁵

However, it’s important to remember that no transfer is 100% secure, especially for large transactions. Always practice caution when sending money online. Never transfer funds to someone you don’t know.

Things to keep in mind when transferring high amounts

Here are some tips for transferring large amounts of money in the US or abroad:

  • Ensure your money transfer app follows the latest security regulations
  • Set up a strong password and 2-factor authentication for your account
  • Carefully check your recipient’s details before sending your money
  • Follow your bank’s verification process for large transfers

Choose a secure, reliable transfer method for large transactions. You’ll need to compare providers, exchange rates, and fees for transfers overseas.

Remitly’s limit for transfers to India from the USA is 100,000 USD. You can send and spend your money abroad, but some transfer fees may apply.

Remitly’s fee structure is misleading, as you’ll pay a high exchange rate for transfers over 10,000 USD. If you’re a returning customer, you may pay additional fees.
