International money transfers with Oxxo

Oxxo stores offer an international money transfer service, both to send and receive money.

These are the steps you must follow to send money abroad:

  1. Go to an Oxxo store.
  2. Show an official and valid photo ID, and provide your phone number.
  3. Provide the full name of the person who will receive the money. Don't forget to keep the receipt of the transaction!

If someone sends you money from the United States or another country, you should ask them to send it via Western Union, and you will be able to collect it directly at Oxxo.

What do you need to make a transfer at Oxxo?

  • The 10-digit transaction number: the person sending the money receives a ticket that displays this number. You must know this number to withdraw the money.

How much does Oxxo charge for making an international transfer?

The international money transfer service offered by Oxxo is not free of charge. Fees depend on the amount of money you want to send.

If you want to send money through an Oxxo store, the fee you must pay is 7% of the total amount plus VAT¹.

For example, if you want to send $2,000 MXN, you must pay $2,140 MXN + VAT. The person who withdraws the money is not charged any fees.

How much does Oxxo charge for receiving an international transfer?

If someone sends you money from abroad, you can receive it through an international platform such as Western Union. Then, when you withdraw the money at an Oxxo store, you must pay a fee of $17 MXN¹.

In addition, you should know that there is a withdrawal limit for all people who want to withdraw money at Oxxo. You can only withdraw up to $3,000 MXN in cash, although it depends on the money that is available in the store's cash register at that moment¹.

However, even if you can only withdraw $3,000 MXN, the maximum amount of money you can receive is $11,600 MXN. To get the remaining amount you must credit it to any of the allied cards (Citibanamex, BBVA Bancomer, Inbursa, Scotiabank, HSBC) or Oxxo's Saldazo card².

How long does an international transfer with Oxxo take?

The money is transferred instantly. This means you can go to an Oxxo store and withdraw it as soon as it is sent to you.

You should know that the service for withdrawing international transfers is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. You’ll be able to withdraw international transfers 365 days a year, including holidays.

If you wish to claim the transfer or receipt of money, you can do so up to 90 days from the moment the deposit was made.
