Wise and Google Join Forces to Make International Payments More Accessible
This new test feature from Google will make transparent and convenient international payments more accessible in the U.S.

Last year, we launched the ability to set up direct debits for customers in the US. This feature lets you link your Wise account to outside accounts, so you can move money to and from your US checking account, Stripe, PayPal, trading platforms, and other financial services.
We’re now rolling out this feature to customers outside the US who hold USD in their Wise account.
This means that no matter where you are in the world — and no matter where you call home — you can use the Wise account for all US finances and bills.
Best part? Direct debits aren’t just quick and easy. They’re a totally free way to move US dollars and make payments to or from your Wise account. You can even automate payments if you want. You only pay when you convert money between currencies — with the low, transparent fees you already expect from Wise.
Want to buy, trade, or sell stocks in the US through a brokerage platform like Interactive Brokers or Robinhood? You can now link your account and use direct debits to pay for trades and move funds from your sales back to Wise. Easy and free.
Are you paying a business or sending money to a friend in the US through a service like PayPal? Quickly link your Wise account to PayPal to avoid extra-high conversion fees and safely move the funds.
Have a big bill — like student tuition, a credit card, or your taxes — in the US, but you're living abroad and don’t have a US bank account? Link your Wise account to pay that bill without worrying about it.
How to get your USD account details:
- Log in to your account and click the “+” to add USD as a balance.
- Click on “Balance”
- Choose “United States Dollar” from the list
How to link your USD account to banks and other services:
- Log in to the service you’d like to link to Wise.
- Follow their steps to link to an external account. You’ll have to enter your USD balance account number and routing number. Make sure to choose “Checking” as the account type.
- The service will then send 1-2 microdeposits (small amounts) to your Wise account. (Note that your Wise account might show up as “Community Federal Savings Bank or CFSB” in their system.)
- Wait for the microdeposits (1-2 small amounts) to appear in your balance, then confirm them to finish linking your account.
- When it’s time to make a payment, choose your Wise account. (Or “Community Federal Savings Bank or CFSB”, as we mentioned in step 3.)
