Travel requirements to Thailand from Philippines

Getting used to the post-covid travel rules all over the world can seem tricky. But the good news is that there are very few health related requirements to travel to Thailand from the Philippines in 2025.

Thailand dropped its covid related restrictions back in 2022, allowing people to enter the country without needing to prove vaccination, complete testing or go through quarantine. This makes life far easier, and means that in many cases there are pretty much no travel requirements to Thailand from the Philippines aside from completing the departure form¹ before you travel.

There’s a chance you’ll need a visa if you’re planning on entering Thailand for anything other than tourism - we’ll look at that in just a moment - but aside from that, you can travel more or less freely.

Bear in mind that travel rules and restrictions do change pretty frequently, so you are advised to check the live regulations before you travel, to ensure nothing else is needed.

Thailand travel restrictions for Filipinos

Short term tourists may find there’s no travel restrictions set by the Thai government - but it is important to check the rules from the Philippine government too. Here’s a quick summary of the Thailand travel rules for people coming from the Philippines:

  • You must complete the Philippine government departure form before departing the Philippines to go to Thailand
  • Travellers coming from certain countries may need to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination - this depends on your travel history

Don’t forget, you’ll also need a visa for some visits if you’re heading to Thailand to work or study, or plan to stay for the long term².

Do Filipinos need a visa to go to Thailand

So - do Philipine citizens need a visa to go to Thailand from the Philippines?

Here the answer may depend on what you plan to do in Thailand and how long you’ll stay. If you have a passport from the Philippines you can usually enter Thailand visa free for tourist purposes. You’re likely to be granted a stay of up to 60 days which may be extended by a further 30 days upon application. However, the length of time you can stay will ultimately depend on the border officer’s decision when you arrive, so do check the passport stamp on arrival.

If you plan to stay for a longer time in Thailand or if you’re heading there for work or to study, you must get a visa in advance. You can check on the Thai visa website to see which types of visa may suit you based on your travel plans. Visas are available for employment, business, specific occupations, or internships for example. You can also apply for a visa for study, family visits, religious visits or to reside in the long term.

Check the Thai e-visa website to enter your passport information and check the visa types available. You can then also complete your application, and pay, digitally without needing to visit the Thai embassy or consulate.
