Indian eVisa

You can apply for an Indian e visa for Filipinos if you’re travelling for tourism, business, study, medical purposes or other similar requirements. There’s a full list of the visa types offered online - each has slightly different rules about applications, so check the specific details for the one you need.

You’ll need to apply at least 4 days before travel - if you’re looking to get a 30-day visa, you’re able to apply any time from 30 days before your trip is due to begin.

Fees for this visa type depend on the specific travel purpose and duration. On top of visa processing costs, you pay banking fees of 3% for card payments and 4% for PayPal.

Indian tourist visa

If the eVisa isn’t right for you, you can also get an in-person tourist visa through the Embassy of India in Manila. This is issued for 1 year with either single or multiple entries, depending on what you need.

You’ll need a set of supporting documents and a valid passport - we’ll cover the specific requirements for an Indian tourist visa from the Philippines a little later. The processing time for this visa is 3 working days.

Indian employment visa

If you have a job offer in India, you’ll need to apply in person for an appropriate visa at the Embassy of India. This requires you to gather a set of documents showing your suitability for the position - you might also have to have an interview.

This visa also needs various documents for your employer, such as their business registration information and their rationale for hiring a foreigner. Prepare the paperwork well in advance to make sure your application is smooth. The processing time for this visa is 3 working days.

Indian visa for Filipino requirements

Applying for a digital eVisa is a fairly straightforward process. For applications made in person, you usually need more information and paperwork. All applications are likely to need the following:

• Two 2 x 2 (inches) size photos
• Your passport must valid for at least 6 months beyond the trip
• An additional photocopy of your passport
• Flight details and tickets

You must then provide extra documents based on the visa type. For example, for an employment visa, you also need:

• A notarized contract of employment from India (original with photocopy)
• Letter from the employer explaining the appointment of a foreigner
• Company registration documents
• Proof of your educational qualifications and professional expertise

Requirements for Indian tourist visa from the Philippines

If you’re applying for an eVisa, you’ll need to upload images of your passport, as well as a digital passport photograph which meets the Indian government standards.

If you’re applying in person you need your valid passport and passport sized photos, as well as return flight tickets, proof of your financial ability to pay for your trip and details of your accommodation arrangements or hotel bookings.

How to apply for an Indian visa for Filipino citizens

1. Visit the Indian eVisa website and select the option to apply.
2. Enter your passport and personal information.
3. Confirm the specific type of eVisa you require.
4. Enter your address, family information, and details of any previous trips to India.
5. Answer the additional questions following on screen instructions.
6. Upload an image of your passport and your passport standard photos.
7. Pay the Indian visa fee for a Filipino.
8. Wait for your eVisa outcome - you’ll be emailed a response once the visa is processed.

Common mistakes to avoid

Finally, let’s round up a few common issues with getting an Indian visa as a Filipino - so you can be sure to avoid them:

• Not checking your passport validity - you need at least 6 months validity on your passport beyond the point at which your trip to India would finish in most cases. Check your passport validity carefully and apply for a new one if necessary.
