The good news is that if you have a Wise account in Malaysia, you can use your Wise card to spend in Taiwan, and you can also send money from Malaysia to Taiwan to be received in TWD. This makes Wise convenient for travel and everyday use for Malaysians with connections to Taiwan.

However, it’s also good to know that there are a few things connected to TWD transactions that you can’t do with a Wise account or card:

  • You can’t hold a TWD balance in your account
  • You can’t use Wise to send a payment from TWD to another currency

We’ll look more carefully at how this works, next.

We’ve already mentioned that you can’t hold a balance in TWD in your Wise account, so when you make a payment or withdrawal in Taiwan your balance will be converted automatically at the live mid-market rate at the time of spending, with a low Wise conversion fee. You’ll be able to see the costs of your transaction instantly in the Wise app.

If you have more than one currency in your Wise account, the card will make the automatic conversion from the balance which attracts the lowest overall fee, so you’ll always know you’re getting the best available deal.
