Connect your Wise account with Exact Online

You can connect your Wise Business account with Exact Online to automatically sync your currency transactions. This saves you time on manual data entry and helps keep your multi-currency bookkeeping up to date.

  • A separate bank account and journal will be created in Exact for every currency you choose to connect.

  • You must have your Wise currencies opened and connected to Exact Online for your statements to sync automatically.

How often does my data sync?

By default, all your Wise transaction data is synced with Exact Online every 4 hours. You can also choose to manually sync your Wise data for a specific date range at any time.

The connection is securely facilitated by a service called Chift, which acts as an intermediary to ensure reliable, automated data transfer.

Which countries is the Exact Online integration available in?

The integration is currently available for businesses registered in the Netherlands.

How do I connect my Wise account with Exact Online?

Before you proceed, make sure you have the permissions on Exact Online to establish the connection:

  • Access journals

  • Access ledger accounts

  • Access bank entries

Alternatively, you can invite your bookkeeper or accountant to your business account as a team member. You control exactly what they can see and do — their access is limited to the permissions you choose. To connect to accounting software, you need to grant them the Manage software integrations and tools permission. Learn how to add team members here.

Follow these steps on the Wise website to set up your connection:

  1. Log in to your Wise Business account.

  2. Select your business name in the top corner.

  3. Go to Integrations and Tools.

  4. Choose Apps and Software and select View All.

  5. Select Exact Online and click Connect.

  6. Select the company or division you'd like to use and click Submit. If you don't find the company/division you want to connect with, you need to adapt the allowed companies/divisions through the Exact Online interface

  7. Choose which currencies to connect.

    • You can create new bank accounts for them (we'll automatically set them up in Exact Online for each currency) or select existing ones.

    • You must set up a separate bank account in Exact Online for each currency account you hold in Wise (e.g., one for Wise EUR, one for Wise USD).

  8. Confirm your setup.

What happens after I connect?

Once connected, transactions from your selected currencies will automatically sync with Exact Online and appear under the associated journals as entries.

What if I open a new currency account later?

If you activate a new currency (e.g. CAD) in your Wise account and would like to sync transactions of it to Exact Online, you should go to connection settings, select the Wise currency and create a new bank account for it.

How are fees and currency conversions handled?

  • Fees: Wise transaction or conversion fees are imported as separate statement lines.

  • Currency Conversions: When you convert money between your Wise currency accounts (e.g. EUR to USD), the transactions are recorded in a source currency Journal on Exact (if you converted from GBP to EUR, it will record the entry in GBP journal as a debit and conversion fee in EUR journal as a debit).

How do I disconnect my Wise account from Exact Online?

You can disconnect your account from Exact Online at any time:

  1. Log in to your Wise Business account on the web.

  2. Select your business name in the top corner.

  3. Go to Integrations and Tools under Settings.

  4. Select Apps and Software.

  5. Click Manage next to Exact Online.

  6. Click Disconnect.

Tip: You can also disconnect directly from the connection settings page.

The connection with Exact Online is powered by Chift that acts as an intermediary between Wise and Exact Online to ensure secure data synchronization.
