Back to top4. About your Card
4.1 Who is the issuer of your Card. Your Card is issued by Vaho Forex Private Limited ("Wise/us/we"), a company incorporated under the laws of India with company identification number: U67190DL2005PTC143066.
4.2 We are an ‘Authorised Dealer Category II’ entity, authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”) to, inter alia, release / remit foreign exchange for certain transactions (as identified under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999), including to issue prepaid forex cards.
4.3 Features and information about your Card A summary of the key product features and information about your Card, including any applicable fees, is set out here.
Back to top5. Customer Onboarding and Issuance of the Card
5.1 The issuance and use of the Card shall be subject to applicable rules and regulations in force as issued by various statutory/regulatory authorities, including but not limited to the RBI, and under the various applicable laws including but not limited to the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999. Your Card is also linked to your Wise profile, which is governed by the Customer Agreement.
5.2 Verification checks. We carry out verification checks when you register for a Wise profile and may carry out further checks on an ad-hoc basis, for example, to require you to complete our customer verification processes or to provide relevant information or documents for account or transaction verification purposes. These checks may also increase the time it takes to process your order for a Card. We cannot be responsible for any delays as a result of carrying out those checks.
Back to top6. Use of the Card
6.1 About your Card. The Card is a prepaid forex card which can be used to access and spend the funds which have been loaded into the Card. The Card cannot hold Indian Rupees as a currency, unless notified otherwise by Wise. Funds loaded in Indian Rupees will be converted into other currencies supported by Wise. We do not offer interest on the funds which have been loaded into the Card, and these funds do not constitute a deposit with Wise and are not insured by any deposit protection scheme. The Card is not a guarantee card, charge card or credit card.
6.2 How to activate your Card. If you receive a physical Card, please sign the back of it as soon as you receive it and keep it safe. You can activate your Card by following the instructions in the App or on our Website.
6.3 We are not liable for certain losses. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or any other aspect of any goods or services purchased with the Card. We are not liable for any loss arising from any merchant refusing to accept your Card, or any ATM failing to dispense cash. You are responsible for losses arising from gross negligence, or failing to conduct adequate due diligence on the merchants you transact with.
6.4 Suspension or Cancellation. We can close or suspend your Wise profile at any time (see Customer Agreement) and we can suspend or cancel your Card, including if the activity on your Card appears suspicious, fraudulent or we believe it to be associated with criminal activity or activity which is inconsistent with this Agreement. Unusual or multiple purchases may prompt a merchant inquiry or Card suspension that is necessary to allow us to investigate such activity. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to limit your use of the Card. We may refuse to issue or replace a Card or may revoke Card privileges, other than as required by applicable law. You agree not to use or allow others to use an expired, revoked, cancelled, suspended or otherwise invalid Card. We will not incur liability to you because of the unavailability of the funds that may be associated with your Card.
6.5 Your use of the Card is subject to limits. The use of your Card must stay within the limits prescribed by the RBI under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (including but not restricted to limits imposed under the RBI’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (“LRS”)). If the total amount of foreign currency transactions undertaken by you during a financial year from 1 April to 31 March exceeds USD 250,000 (United States Dollars Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Only) or such other limit as prescribed by the RBI under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (including but not restricted to limits imposed under the LRS) from time to time, transactions on your Card may be declined and we will not be liable for any declined transactions. You also agree to be fully responsible for any costs, penalties, interest and/or legal fees that we may incur or become liable for because of your breach of such limits or any losses or penalties incurred in connection with such breach.
6.6 Adding funds to your Card. To add funds to your Card, you need to access your Wise profile, by logging in on our Website or App or via an API Partner, and follow the steps provided to initiate payment to our designated account maintained with our Bank Partner. You may be presented with one or more methods of adding funds to your Card (for example, a bank transfer). The number of payment methods made available to you will depend on a number of factors including where you live and your verification status with us. We cannot guarantee the availability of any particular payment method and we may change or stop offering a payment method at any time without notice to you. Any payment instrument (for example, the bank account) from which you make a transfer to add funds to your Card must be in your name.
6.7 Redemption of unutilised funds from your Card. You acknowledge that unutilised funds in your Card exceeding the aggregate amount of USD 2,000 (or such other limit as Wise may notify or implement in accordance with applicable regulations) are only permitted to be retained for 180 days (or such other period as Wise may notify or implement in accordance with applicable regulations). This period is calculated from the latest date of: (i) the last top-up to your Card, (ii) the last transaction, or (iii) Wise’s last verification of your transaction purpose. If excess unutilised funds are not redeemed within this period, Wise will seek to return them to you as required by applicable regulations. Redemption of the unutilised funds in the Card within our App or on our Website will be subject to the following conditions:
- You may only request for redemption after the expiry of the prescribed period of 10 days (or such other prescribed time period) from the date of the last Card transaction.
- Wise will verify if there is any unutilised balance of the funds in your Card available for redemption. Wise is entitled to reject the redemption request if insufficient funds are available for redemption.
- Any redemption of the unutilised balance of the funds in your Card shall not result in reinstatement of your LRS limits.
- The foreign currency funds will be converted to Indian Rupees by applying the applicable Wise exchange rate and the proceeds will be transferred to the bank account details that you have provided to us within the App or on our Website via electronic fund transfer, after deducting all applicable fees and any unsettled, outstanding, or disputed transactions. Wise will process all requests for redemption within such timelines as may be notified by Wise to you from time to time.
You also acknowledge that Wise may initiate the return of the unutilised funds in your Card or otherwise require you to withdraw the funds in your Card in order to comply with Wise’s regulatory obligations and/or any instructions, orders or directions of regulatory authorities or our banking partners.
6.8 During the top up or redemption process, Wise may be subject to charges and expenses including but not limited to foreign exchange losses when converted at the prevailing exchange rate, etc. You agree and acknowledge that Wise shall not be liable for such charges and expenses and you also agree to indemnify Wise in full against any and all losses incurred by Wise in connection with such costs or expenses.
7. Transactions
7.1 You authorise every Transaction. You agree that any use of your Card, card number or PIN constitutes your authorisation and consent to a transaction.
7.2 Prohibited transactions. Subject to restrictions under applicable laws, including but not limited to the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, the Card can only be used to make transactions as may be permitted by Wise or the card networks from time to time, such as for foreign currency transactions outside of India, or to withdraw money from ATMs outside of India which accept Mastercard or Visa. The Card cannot be used at ATMs or merchants in India, Nepal and Bhutan, or other countries which are subject to sanctions under applicable law or as may be notified by Wise from time to time. Without limitation, you shall not use the Card to do any of the following:
- Transactions made over the Internet;
- Participation in lottery schemes or money circulation schemes;
- Payments for the purpose of securing prize money or awards, for banned or proscribed magazines, football pools, participation in sweepstakes, gambling, betting, or for call-back services;
- Payments for capital account transactions, trade related current account transactions, trading in foreign exchange in domestic/overseas markets, or margins or margins calls to overseas exchanges/overseas counterparties;
- Payment in foreign exchange in Nepal and Bhutan or to persons resident in Nepal or Bhutan; or
- Payments for gifting foreign currency to another Indian resident.
7.3 Paying in different currencies. You may hold different currencies in the Card, as permitted by Wise from time to time. If you are making a payment or withdrawing funds in a currency you hold, the payment will be made in that currency. If you withdraw cash or make a purchase in a currency which you do not hold, or if you withdraw cash or make a purchase in a currency in an amount that exceeds the available funds that you hold in that currency, Wise may convert funds from another currency that you hold to cover that transaction. You consent to, and authorise Wise to, convert the currency in place and accept that Wise currency conversion fees will apply. However, Wise will only ever take money from currencies that the card is associated with. You cannot set a default or preferred currency to convert from.
When determining which currency to convert, where you have more than one currency available and associated with a card, Wise will use the currency with the lowest conversion fee for the currency needed to complete the cash withdrawal or purchase made by you. In cases where the conversion from several currencies will have the same conversion fee, we will convert based on the highest conversion rate. For more information on which currencies would be used in the event that you use your Card to withdraw cash or make a purchase in a currency that you do not hold, please check the Wise Pricing Page or contact Customer Support.
If you are making a payment or withdrawal in a currency we do not support (see FAQ), the rate charged by the VISA/MASTERCARD® network shall apply. Please note that if you are offered the option at a point of sale (POS) terminal to pay in local currency or to pay in another currency, you must pick the local currency if you want the Wise rate to apply to your transaction.
7.4 No negative balance in the Card. You must not make transactions that exceed the amount of funds available in your Card. If any transaction takes you over your available funds or the card limits in force from time to time the transaction will be declined.
7.5 Refunds in different currencies. If you receive a refund on a card payment in a supported currency, we will credit your Card in that currency. If you receive a refund in a currency we do not support (see FAQ), we will first convert the amount at the current Mastercard or Visa rate to a supported currency and then credit your Card.
7.6 Unjust enrichment. In case you notice a refund has been received twice for the same transaction, from Wise and the merchant, you are required immediately to let us know, and we always reserve the right to debit back a previously issued refund when a refund for the same transaction has been provided by the merchant as well, without prior notice.
7.7 In case of disputed card transactions, we may, subject to any restrictions under applicable law, decide not to proceed with chargebacks at our sole discretion. Reasons for this might include: not receiving sufficient information to determine that an error occurred; not receiving a notification about the payment error in a timely manner; disputes being caused by the risky nature of transactions undertaken with the Card.
8. When your Card expires
8.1 Your Card has an expiry date. You can only use your card up until the expiry date which will be shown on the front of your card and/or in the App.
8.2 Subject to your continued eligibility for using the Card, we’ll aim to notify you 2 months before your current Card will expire. You then may order a new Card by following the instructions on our FAQ page. A replacement card fee may apply.
8.3 If you do not want your Card to be renewed, you can simply let it expire without ordering a replacement. Your Card will be deactivated and you will not be able to use it after its expiry. Any unutilised funds in your Card will be returned to you in accordance with section 6.7 of this Agreement.
9. Keep Your Card Safe
9.1 Keep your Card safe. Never let another party use your Card, and keep it safe. Memorise your PIN and never disclose this and other security information to anyone. Sharing these details can lead to unauthorized access to your account and you will be solely responsible for transaction(s) made in this situation. Wise will not be liable for any loss arising due to any such unauthorized transaction(s).
9.2 Keep your Wise profile safe. You should also observe the security measures as set out in section 6 of the Customer Agreement with regard to your Wise profile.
9.3 Check your transaction history regularly. We rely on you to regularly check on your transaction history and contact us in the case of unauthorised, incorrect, or misdirected transactions.
9.4 Report any suspicious incidents. If your Card is lost or stolen, if you suspect that someone else knows your PIN, or if you think your Card, card number or PIN may be misused, you agree that you must stop using the Card and contact Customer Support immediately. If you find the Card after you have reported it lost, stolen or misused, you must cut it up and tell us as soon as possible.
9.5 Replacement of card. If your Card, or any replacement card, is lost or stolen, you can request a replacement, subject to your continued eligibility for using the Card. We reserve the right to charge a fee for the replacement Card. The details for the relevant replacement can be found here.
9.6 Disclosure of information to law enforcement authorities. If your Card is used without your permission, or is lost, stolen or if you suspect the Card may be misused, we may disclose to law enforcement agencies any information which we reasonably believe may be relevant.
Back to top10. Ending or Suspension of Card services

10.3 Termination upon occurrence of specific events. You agree that we have the right to terminate your Card and our agreement under this Supplement immediately in the event that you are:
- declared bankrupt, insolvent or enter into liquidation or such other scheme of arrangement or administration;
- found in default of your debt obligations to an authorised financial institution under Indian laws; or
- deceased.
In the event of any of the above, we reserve the right to deal with any such trustee, executive or representative daily appointed in respect of your estate (where appropriate) as in its sole discretion is considered appropriate in relation to the administration of any unutilised funds in your Card.
