How to verify your Indian business to receive payments

We currently onboard the following business types in India:

  • Sole trader / freelancer

  • Sole proprietorship

  • Private limited company

  • Limited liability partnership

If you have a different business type, we're working hard on bringing this back — start registering your business to join the waitlist.


We need to verify your identity and your business before you can start receiving money from your payers. It’s how we keep your money safe and comply with regulations.

Once you're verified, you can receive money from your international clients. They can pay to your account details on Wise and we'll automatically convert the money to INR at mid-market rate for you.

What's my company type?

You can choose from 4 company types based on the following criteria:

Sole trader or Freelancer

  • You're making money as an individual

  • Your PAN is under your personal name

  • Your bank account for receiving INR is under your personal name

Sole proprietorship

  • You're the sole owner of your business

  • You have a government issued document (e.g. GSTIN) to prove your ownership and have a trade / business name.

  • Your PAN is under your personal name

  • Your bank account for receiving INR is under your trade / business name

Private limited company

  • You have a privately held, legally-recognized business entity that is owned by private stakeholders

  • You have a government certified registration document to prove your stake in company

  • You have a business PAN that is under the company’s name

  • Your bank account for receiving INR is under your company’s name

  • Your business is registered with a Corporate identification number (CIN)

Limited Liability Partnership

  • You're running a partnership based firm where you share certain amount of profits in the business

  • You have a government certified registration document to prove your stake in the partnership

  • You have a business PAN that is under the company’s name

  • Your bank account for receiving INR is under your company’s name

  • Your business is registered with a Limited Liability Partnership Identification Number (LLPIN)


How do I get verified?

We'll need to verify your:

  1. Aadhaar number and PAN via video verification

  2. Bank account details

  3. Business ownership

We will verify your Aadhaar number and PAN via video verification as required by the Reserve Bank of India for international remittances. You can complete this process from home via a short video call — no need to visit an office or wait in line.

We'll then reach out within 2 working days to let you know that your business account is ready. If there’s any further information required, we will notify you in an email.

1. Video KYC verification

General information about the process:

  • The video call can be done in English or Hindi and it takes about 2-3 minutes

  • You need a smartphone or a computer with a webcam, microphone, and stable internet

  • You must be physically in India and not using VPN during the video call

  • You must be the account holder of the Wise account to make the video call

  • No one else can assist you during the video call

  • Have your Aadhaar number (with access to its linked mobile/email for OTPs) ready

  • Have your Digilocker access ready (with your 6-digit security PIN)

  • Have your personal physical PAN card ready (we do not accept e-PAN or screenshots of digital PAN card)

  • Make sure you're in a well-lit, quiet space

  • Video verification is available Monday to Friday, from 9:15 AM to 11:00 PM IST, excluding public holidays

How to start the video verification process:

  1. Complete account registration on Wise

  2. Proceed to verify your identity through IDfy, our KYC verification partner

  3. Capture your PAN details by taking a photo of your PAN card

  4. Capture your Aadhar details by selecting Verify with Digilocker and logging in with your 6-digit Digilocker PIN (If you forgot your PIN, reset it here)

  5. Once you verified your Aadhar details, select Start Video KYC

How to complete the video verification process:

  1. Allow camera and microphone access — this is secure and only used for the call

  2. You’ll meet a Wise agent who’ll guide you through:

    • Reading a 4-digit code displayed on your screen

    • Showing your physical PAN card to the camera

    • Taking a live selfie

  3. The agent will verify your Aadhaar and PAN details

2. Bank account details

Details of the bank account where you want the INR to be deposited. We ask for your account number and IFSC code to verify your bank account.

  • Freelancers – the account holder name on your bank account must match with your name registered on your personal Wise account.

  • Sole proprietorships – the account holder name on your bank account must match with your registered business name on your Wise business account.

  • Private limited & Limited Liability Partnerships – the account holder name on your bank account must match with your business profile name.

3. Business ownership

  • Sole proprietorships – you'll need to provide one of the following documents, and the name must match your registered business name on your Wise account:

    • Importer exporter registration certificate

    • Udyam registration certificate

    • GST (tax) certificate

    • Income tax return documents

    • Shops and establishment document

  • Private limited companies - you'll need to provide the following information:

    • Corporate identification number (CIN)

    • Business entity PAN number and a copy of the card

    • Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association (MoA and AoA)

    • Importer Exporter Code (IEC)

    • GST identification number, if you’d like to receive tax invoices 

    • Directors’ details

    • Beneficial owners’ details and IDs

    • List of shareholders and their respective ownership percentages

    • Authorization letter if the person registering is not one of the directors mentioned earlier

  • Limited Liability Partnerships – you'll need to provide the following information:

    • Limited liability partnership identification number (LLPIN)

    • Business entity PAN number and a copy of the card

    • Importer Exporter Code (IEC)

    • GST identification number, if you’d like to receive tax invoices 

    • Partnership deed

    • Partners’ details

    • Beneficial owners’ details and IDs

    • List of shareholders and their respective ownership percentages

    • Authorization letter if the person registering is not one of the directors mentioned earlier


What to do if my bank account verification has a mismatch error?

Please make sure that you check the company type you registered with and if the documents and information you sent us match the requirements.

  • If you’ve registered as a freelancer, your provided bank account name must match with your personal profile name.

  • Otherwise, your provided bank account name must match with your business profile name i.e. bank account name must be under your business name


How can I check my profile details?

You can check your personal or business profile details by going to https://payout-surge.live/profile/view/%3C/u%3E%3C/a%3E where you will be able to modify editable information. Some fields can only be modified if verification is still in progress.
