Paying with your connected bank account (ACH) in the US

When you pay with your connected bank account (ACH), you first need to connect your preferred bank account, go through the verification process and authorise a one-time debit from your account to our bank details. Then you need to choose your bank and authorise a transfer. While you usually won’t need to verify your bank again for future transfers, we may occasionally ask you to do so for your security.

Here are some common questions about paying using your connected bank account (ACH) in the US.

How long does it take for my money to reach Wise?

It usually takes up to 4 business days for your money to reach us. And you’ll usually see the debit in your bank account within 2–3 business days of making the transfer. 

The speed of your transfer depends on a few variables:

  • Banking Hours & Holidays: Banks only process ACH bank transfers on business days. If you start a transfer on a weekend or a bank holiday, processing won't begin until the next business day, and any weekends or holidays occurring during the transfer timeline will also extend the overall delivery time.

  • Verification & Amounts: Larger transfers may require additional security checks by your bank or Wise, which can add time. Learn more about how long large transfers take.

  • Processing Windows: Banks must receive the transfer request before a daily cutoff time (a specific hour). If you initiate a transfer after this time, processing will be delayed until the next business day, which extends the overall delivery time.

Since it can take some time for the money to reach us, be sure you have enough money in your account balance while you wait for the transfer.

Guaranteed Rate with your connected bank account (ACH)

When paying for a transfer or adding money from your connected bank account (ACH), the guaranteed rate is secured once you've authorised the payment to Wise. With other payment methods, generally the guaranteed rate is secured once Wise receives the money for your transfer.

How much can I send? 

Personal accounts: You can send up to 50,000 USD per 24 hours. You can send up to 50,000-250,000 USD over a 60 day period.

Business accounts: You can send up to 100,000 USD per 24 hours. You can send up to 100,000-400,000 USD on your business account. When sending over 50,000 USD within 24 hours, the payments will take longer to process.

What happens if I cancel my debit from the connected bank account (ACH)?

You should be able to cancel your transfer up to 30 minutes after you've set it up, without us debiting your account.

But sometimes, we can process the transfer instantly. If you cancel your transfer after we’ve started processing it, we’ll refund you once we get your money — so it can take a little longer.

It usually takes 1–4 business days for your money to reach Wise. And you’ll usually see the debit in your bank account within 2–3 business days of making the transfer.
