If you don’t know your recipient’s bank details, you can send money to them using their email address. We'll contact them to ask for their bank details so you don't have to.
This feature is currently available on the Wise website only.
How it works
Log in to your account on the website and start a transfer by choosing Send on the Home page.
Choose Add and select the target currency.
Select See all options and Pay by email.
Enter your recipient's email address and pay for your transfer.
We’ll email your recipient and ask them to provide their bank details once we’ve received the money from you.
What your recipient needs to do:
If they have a Wise account: They can claim the money to their primary account or another eligible currency account.
If they don’t have a Wise account: They’ll need to create one to claim the money. The new account must use the same email address.
If they have a Wise Business account: Only the account owner can claim the transfer.
Note: To protect privacy, we never share a recipient's bank details with the sender.
What if my recipient doesn’t claim the money?
Your recipient has 1 week (7 calendar days) to provide their bank details after we receive your deposit.
If they don’t claim the money within this time, we’ll cancel the transfer and refund the money to the bank account it came from. Once a transfer is cancelled by our system, we cannot reactivate it.
Are there any limits?
You can't send money using an email address if:
You are sending from BRL or INR.
You are sending to LKR, BDT, COP, CNY, UAH, BWP, GHS, or USD (Global Swift).
You are sending to Swift account details.
You are sending more than 1 million JPY.
