Young Explorer Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice is effective from March 18, 2026.

Welcome

Young Explorer is designed for parents and legal guardians (collectively “Parents”) who want to give their children more financial independence while maintaining control over how they spend their money.

Parents, this Young Explorer Privacy Notice (“Notice”) outlines key information to help you and your child understand how Wise (“we”) collects, uses, and shares children's information when you order a card for your child and when you give them app access (in countries where app access is available). This Notice supplements the Wise Customer Privacy Notice. Please review them with your child.

Children, we have created this page to help you learn about privacy and explain how we keep your information safe. Some words might be tricky so it’s a good idea to read it with an adult.

1. Who owns your account

Until you turn 18 years old and are old enough to have your own Wise account, your Parent is the owner of your Young Explorer card. This means they can check your activity and see how and where you spend your money. Your Parent can also let another adult add money to your account and see how you spend it.

2. What terms will help me understand this Notice?

  • Child or Children - anyone aged 6 to 17 years old.
  • Information / Data - facts about you or your account
  • Notice - this webpage / document
  • Privacy - Your right to keep facts about (your information/data) safe, secure, and private, and to know how we are using them.
  • Services - the accounts Wise offers including our mobile app and online banking website
  • Terms - the rules and guidelines for using our Services
  • We, Our, or Us - Wise

3. What kind of information does Wise collect?

When you use Young Explorer, we need to know certain things about you. Your Parent provided some of this information, such as your full name and date of birth, when they requested a card for you.

When you use your card and access the app (in countries where app access is available), we get more information about you. For example, when you use your card to pay for things, we know when and where you pay for something and how much you spend.

Sometimes, we’ll ask your Parent for documents so we can be sure who you are. This could be your passport, ID card or birth certificate. We will also have any other information you or they decide to give us . Information that helps recognize you like facial recognition or fingerprint login is part of your device settings and not shared with Wise.

If you choose to add your card to a digital wallet, like Apple Pay or Google Pay, these companies are also responsible for some of your data.

4. Why does Wise need information about me?

We use the information we have about you for some important reasons. Think of your information as a key that helps us make your account work perfectly! We use it to:

  • Check who you are and make sure you are old enough to use our app or card.
  • Create a card just for you and send it to your address.
  • Manage your money. We create your profile and keep track of your spending and savings.
  • Keep your account and your information safe and protected from anyone who shouldn't see it.
  • Reply when you, or your Parent contact us, or answer any questions you ask us.
  • Understand how you use Young Explorer so we can keep it safe and make it even better for you.
  • Make sure we don’t break the law. To do this, we’ll share information with the police or other important people when we need to. They will investigate any issues and verify that we are taking all necessary measures to keep you safe.

We care a lot about keeping your information private and promise we won’t use it for any other reason.

5. Who does Wise share my information with?

We only share your information with people or companies that need to know your information for reasons specific to the Services provided.

For example, the Parent who ordered the card for you and the other adult they choose can see how much money is in the account and your spending.

We also share your information with other companies that help our services to work, when you spend money on your card and when it helps to keep you or your money safe.

6. How long does Wise keep my information?

There are rules and laws that tell us how long to keep data and when we can delete it. We delete your data when allowed to or if your Parent asks us.

7. What are cookies and why do we use them?

Our app and website use tiny digital files called “cookies” (you can’t eat them!) to help them work correctly and safely.

Think of cookies like digital memory tags we place on your device (like your phone or tablet). They help us remember key details and:

  • Make the app work: They help our app work properly and remember your app settings.
  • Keep everything running smoothly: They help us keep an eye on how our app is doing, so we can quickly fix any problems.
  • Keep You Safe: They are important for security, helping us protect your account and keep your information safe.
  • Understand how you use our website and our app: We like to know who uses our website and app, and how we can make them better.

We need cookies to make our Wise app work. If you don’t want to use them, you’ll need to delete the app. You can ask your Parent if you have any questions.

8. Your rights

Your information is yours, so you can ask us:

  • For a copy of your information
  • To correct information that is wrong
  • To review a decision that’s been made without a human – for example, if we stop a payment
  • To delete or stop using your information – we can't always do this, but when we can we will

Because Young Explorer is linked to your Parent’s account, they will need to contact us at privacy@wise.com.
