The most important thing you’ll need to start working in Turkey is a visa. We’re here to help, with a complete guide to the Türkiye digital nomad visa.

Turkey is one of many countries which has a digital nomad visa. It’s a brand new addition however, as the Türkiye government only launched this type of visa in 2024.
The Turkey Digital Nomad Visa gives foreign nationals of certain countries (including the UK) the legal right to live and work in the country for the purposes of carrying out remote work. It lasts for one year, with the option to renew.1
You can work as a freelancer, or work remotely in Turkey on behalf of a company (non-Turkish).
To meet the Turkey digital nomad visa requirements, you’ll need to:2
The Turkey digital nomad visa costs £644 in application fees for British citizens.3
This includes the cost of travel insurance, which must be arranged through Voya Visa - the official application centre for the Turkish digital nomad visa.
You’ll need the following documents to apply for a digital nomad visa for Turkey:3
When applying for your acceptance letter from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, you’ll also need to provide proof that you meet the minimum income requirement of at least $3,000 USD a month or $36,000 USD a year (or the currency equivalent).
Unlike in some countries, you don’t need to show proof of address to apply for a digital nomad visa in Turkey. This means you can apply for the visa, and then find somewhere to rent or buy in Turkey when you’re ready.
You also don’t need to open a local bank account. However, it could be useful to have one to receive your salary and pay your bills while in Turkey - especially if you’re not able to keep your UK account open while living and working abroad.
You can apply for the Turkey digital nomad visa through Voya Visa - the official authorised visa application centre for Turkey.4
But before you can do that, you must apply for an acceptance letter from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism - you can do this here. You’ll need all your supporting documents ready.
Once you have your acceptance letter, you simply need to visit the Voya Visa Türkiye Visa Application Centre in London.
The company says you don’t need an appointment for a digital nomad visa - you can simply visit anytime between 9am and 2pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).3
It could be worth contacting the company before you travel though, just to double-check that an appointment isn’t required. You can email workpermit@voyavisa.com for more information.
Take your supporting documents (including acceptance letter) along to your appointment, and pay your application fee. You’ll then have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for your application to be processed.3
The Turkey digital nomad visa lasts for 1 year, with the option to renew for another year if you meet the conditions.

However, you may be subject to income tax on all your worldwide income if you stay in Turkey for at least 183 days in a year - this is because you’ll be considered a resident for tax purposes in that year.5
